Collision mitigation support front
Collision mitigation support front is an integrated system that includes forward collision warning, safe distance warning, dynamic braking system, and automatic emergency braking. The system can automatically intervene and brake the car to avoid or mitigate an imminent collision.
The driver can set the sensitivity level of the forward collision warning, or fully turn it off, as well as turn on/off the automatic emergency braking function, through the center display. This function can identify moving pedestrians, cyclists, and various vehicles (buses, trucks, and cars) in front of the car.
Warnings and interventions
There are four types of warnings and interventions, depending on how the situation develops and if you, as the driver, take action.
- Safe distance warning:This function is active above 65 km/h. A visual warning is shown to the driver when the distance to the vehicle ahead is too short.
- Front collision warning:When the system identifies an imminent collision, the driver is alerted through warning symbols, acoustic signals, and a haptic (brake pulse) warning. When detecting pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooters, the front collision warning is active in the 10–90 km/h speed range. When detecting two-wheelers or vehicles, the front collision warning is active in the 10–150 km/h speed range.
- Dynamic brake support:If the driver does not brake hard enough in a potentially dangerous situation, the car automatically brakes to avoid or mitigate the collision. When detecting pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooters, the dynamic brake support is active in the 4–90 km/h speed range. When detecting two-wheelers or vehicles, the dynamic brake support is active in the 4–150 km/h speed range.
- Automatic emergency braking:If a collision is imminent in the 4–150 km/h speed range for two-wheelers or vehicles, or 4–90 km/h for pedestrians, cyclists, and e-scooters, the car automatically brakes to avoid or mitigate the collision. The system only reduces the speed by up to 60 km/h, and releases the brakes afterwards. Be aware of longer braking distances on slippery roads. While the system is intervening, the hazard warning lights are activated, and a warning message is shown on the driver display.
Settings
Collision mitigation support front is active by default at the start of each journey. The sensitivity of the audible warning can be adjusted through the center display.
To set the sensitivity level of the forward collision warning:
- Navigate to
Zeekr AD. - Select a distance under Forward collision warning.
The automatic emergency braking function and the audible warning can be turned off through the center display.
To turn off the automatic emergency braking function:
- Navigate to
Zeekr AD. - Press Forward collision mitigation.
To turn off the forward collision warning function:
- Navigate to
Zeekr AD. - Under Forward collision warning, press Off.
Limitations of the collision mitigation support front function
Several factors may affect and reduce the functionality of the collision mitigation support front function. These factors include but are not limited to the following:
- Driving at a speed outside of the operating speed range
- The car is not in D
- There is no collision risk detected
- The driver presses the accelerator heavily
- The driver turns the steering wheel sharply
- Limitations related to the driver assistance sensors, see Limitations of the driver assistance system sensors.
Certain scenarios make it more difficult for the system to detect and react to a collision risk, such as:
- Traffic conditions with many pedestrians, cyclists, cars, or animals
- Vehicles in the sensor blind spots
- Vehicles that partially cross into your lane in front of your car
- Vehicles that suddenly move into your lane in front of your car
- Driving too close to the vehicle in front of your car
- Vehicles where the rear body sticks out higher and further back than the chassis, for example, a truck with a crane
Certain objects are more difficult for the system to detect and react to, such as:
- Stationary or slow-moving vehicles, especially at night
- Unusually shaped, partially obscured, or damaged vehicles, especially at night
- Partially obscured pedestrians or cyclists
- Pedestrians or cyclists carrying large objects
- Pedestrians or cyclists wearing clothes that blend into the background or limit the system's ability to form a clear image of the contours of their body
The system does not react to certain objects, such as:
- Small animals
- Walls and other barriers or barricades, including traffic cones and water barriers
Faults
The collision mitigation support front function is deactivated, and the CMSF ERROR symbol is shown to alert the driver about the situation, if any of the following errors occur:
- Camera error
- Electronic Stability Control (ESC) error
- Automated Driving Control Unit (ADCU) error
