Electric Parking brake
The parking brake keeps the car stationary and can be activated using the P button on the right steering wheel stalk, or through the center display. The electric parking brake can also act as a manual emergency brake.
When the parking brake is activated, the parking brake symbol
is shown on the driver display.
Automatic activation
When the car is powered on and stationary, the electric parking brake activates automatically if certain conditions are met. The conditions depend on whether the auto hold function is active or not.
If auto hold is active, the parking brake activates automatically if any of the following conditions are met:
- The driver door is opened.
- The driver seat belt is released.
- The standstill exceeds the working time of the auto hold function (approximately 10 minutes).
If auto hold is not active, the parking brake is automatically activated if all the following conditions are met:
- Neither the brake pedal nor the accelerator is depressed.
- Any two of the following three conditions are fulfilled:
- The driver seat belt is released.
- The driver door is opened.
- The driver is not in the seat.
